Direct Method




Group 6
Direct Method 
Direct Method is a direct method that teaches about the foreign language and the language and the teaching should use English. And if there are students unable to understand it, then , the teacher will use body language to make it more understand.

The characteristics of this method are:

 
1. Subject matter is first given word for word, then sentence structure.
2. Grammar is taught only in passing, and students are not required to memorize grammatical        formulas, but the main thing is that students are better able to spell.
 
3. In the process of teaching always use tools (props) props either directly, indirectly (mock object) and show through symbols or certain movements.
 
4. Once inside the classroom, student or protege is really conditioned to accept and carry on a conversation in a foreign language, and are prohibited from using other languages​​.



Benefits
§  Students can ask directly to the teacher what is less understood.




§  Add vocabulary
§  Students train yourself to speak up.

Role of the teacher/student
1.      Teacher is the only demonstrator, never translates but demonstrated the meaning through the use of picture.
2.      Teacher/student are partners.

Goal
~ learn how to communicate the target language learn to think in the target language.
~ correct pronounciation
~ think in target languages, no native language, no translation.
~ emphasize on listening and speaking.


Conclusion
After learn about direct method, so, we know how to improve English, because in this direct method use full english, and if there are student that misunderstand, teacher will use body language in order to make  students can understand. In this direct method students can correct pronounciation, learn how to communicate with another students. And also emphasize on listening and speaking.
