Self Directed Learning

Self Directed Learning (SDL)

What is self-directed learning?
·                      Self Directed Learning is a self-learning planning to achieve the targets we have planned. self-directed learning can be defined also a process in which individuals take the initative to diagnose their learning needs, formulate learning goals, identify resources for learning, select and implement learning.

Why selfdirected learning? Why not?
• Positive outcomes for the learner: selfdirected learners are motivated, persistent, independent, selfdisciplined, selfconfident and goal oriented.

 

 Challenges for the learner: no external validation for content or assessment since the individual is in charge of all aspects of learning from deciding what should be learned to the methods and resources used to the evaluation of the success of the effort.



Here some of important aspect in Self Directed Learning
1.Ownership of learning
2. Self management
3. Learners have to capable in responsibility

Self Monitoring
§  Cognitive is a process thinking, making meaning of information.     
 

   Meta-cognitive is thinking about learning to learn.




 
Conclusion
With there are self directed learning method, we can make a planning to achieve target. And we can know about important aspect in Self Directed Learning, like Ownership of learning, Self management, and Learners have to capable in responsibility. And also self directed learning is self learning without teacher, someone just need books or the other information for be knowledge.
